Is there any money in niche marketing?
Making money online is more involved today than it used to be. A few years ago it was fairly easy to get started in the online money making game. Today, things are different. People are becoming more aware of the cleaver marketing tactics being used on them and have learned to avoid them. Do you remember when pop-up windows were such a major hassle? The market sure met the demand on that stuff, because everything has a popup blocker in it now. Leave it to the cleaver affiliate marketers to sell pop-up blocker software by advertising it using popups! I hope those affiliate marketers made enough money to make that worth their wild. I doub’t they got much repeat business or conversions on any of their other offers after selling that one. I just want to sing that song, “Isn’t it Ironic!”
The idea of pop-up advertising was never actually that great of an idea anyway because for the most part it was not targeted to the audience (except for the pop-up blocker software I suppose). If you are going to sell something, don’t you think you would sell more of it to a targeted customer than just some random visitor. Some marketers were so confident in themselves they thought they could sell snowballs to an eskimo and glasses of water to drowning men. I belive that s how the old sayings go. They have another old saying that goes something like, “and if you believe that I’ve got some beach front propery in Arizona I could sell you.” This one means you are an idiot if you believe something.
You are probably asking yourself what the point of this article is, and the point is simple really. If you try to sell beach front property it better be on the ocean now, and if you got snowballs for sale you may want to market them to people who are hot. All you need to do is remind yourself that people are not stupid. Don’t scam people, and sell something to people who are actually interested in buying it. It’s not rocket science. Monetize the site with product ads that are targeted to your demographic and you will make money. You can not just build a lame website about grad level chemistry and then try to sell viagra or acai berry on it. You need to think about targeting your audience or you are wasting your time An example of a targeted website is a site about the xbox promoted to gamers and monetized with ads for xbox cheats or xbox games. Simple enough isn’t it?
Here are just a few examples of what can be done…The Cardio Twister store site is specifically going after this one product, the cardio twister. The Davinci Kalani Crib site is targeting parents, and more specifically a specific baby crib. Try to make your webpage very targeted with a product model like this place has done with the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor the idea becomes alot more clear.
